NOL Rain & Lightning Policy
-Should enough rain accumulate on the field that renders the field unplayable, as determined by the umpire or player agent (or NOL president if neither are available), the game and game clock will be paused and a 30 minute waiting period will be started. After 30 minutes, if the field is unplayable, as determined by the umpire or player agent (or NOL president if neither are available), the game will be delayed with the option to resume the game later in the day should the umpire or player agent (or NOL president if neither are available), determine that the field is playable. 8:30pm is the cutoff to wait out rain. No new inning may start after 9pm. If after the above mentioned times, the field is not playable, the game shall be resumed the next day. If the cutoff time of 8:30pm is reached, and 4 innings are complete (or 3.5 innings if the home team is winning), then the game is official and will not be resumed the next day.
-Should lightning be detected within a 10 mile radius, as determined by a location enabled/lightning detector weather app that center of the 10 mile radius is set on the playing field that the umpire or player agent (or NOL president if neither are available) is using, the game and time clock will be paused and a 30 minute waiting period will be started. Players, coaches and parents should seek shelter in their vehicles. After 30 minutes, if lightning is still within the 10 mile radius (as determined by same process listed above), the game will be delayed with the option to wait out the lightning and resume the game later in the day should the umpire or player agent (or NOL president if neither are available), give the all clear announcement after consulting their location enabled/lightning detector weather app. 8:30pm is the cutoff to wait out lightning. No new inning may start after 9pm. If after the above mentioned times, the lightning is still within the 10 mile radius, the game shall be resumed the next day. If the cutoff time of 8:30pm is reached, and 4 innings are complete (or 3.5 innings if the home team is winning), then the game is official and will not be resumed the next day.
-Little League pitch count/delayed games rules are in effect: If a game is suspended and resumed on a different day, the pitcher of record may continue if they threw 40 or fewer pitches before the delay. If they threw 21–40 pitches, their count starts over from that total when resuming; if 20 or fewer, they start at zero. The pitcher must still adhere to mandatory rest days based on their total pitch count.
