Q. What does NOL stand for and mean?

A. Navy Ortega Lakeshore (NOL) Little League is a partnership between Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS, or “the base”) and the surrounding communities that started in 1960.

Q.  Where is NOL Little League located?

A.  Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville
6801 Roosevelt Blvd
Jacksonville, FL 32212

Q: What is a base pass and how do I get one?

A: All non-military parents, guardians and family members age 16 and over must apply for a base pass to gain access to NAS Jacksonville, and NOL Little League. Please review the “NAS Base Pass” section of our website for further information on applying for and obtaining a base pass.

Q: What are “colors”?

A: Morning (8am) and evening (sunset) colors signify when the base colors and American flag is raised and lowered each day; this is a standard across all military service bases. Service members and civilians take part in this long-standing tradition to reflect on the sacrifices of the women and men who devoted their lives to protect our nation's shores from foes. During colors, service members are required to stop all activities, face the flag, come to attention, and salute until the “carry on” signal is given. In some cases when the flag is not visible, they are to face the direction of the music and perform those actions. Similarly, civilians are expected to stop, face the flag and stand at attention with the right hand over the heart. Vehicles within sight or hearing of the ceremony are also required to stop and pull safely on the side of the road until the carry-on signal is given.

Q: Why is the concession stand important?

A: The concession stand is one of the main funding sources and financial lifelines of the park, and operates solely on volunteers. We need your support when your team’s volunteer slot arrives to volunteer and assist the concessions stand team in serving food and drink items to ensure the concession stand is open on game day/night.

Q.  We believe we lost an item at the fields, is there a lost and found?

A.  Items found at the fields are turned into the concession stand for safe keeping.  Be sure to check at the concession stand for any lost items.

Q.  There is rain in the area, is my child's game or practice canceled for tonight?

A.  We try to make the call by 4:30pm on weeknight games. For practices you will typically hear from your coach as to whether or not your practice is on.  For league wide closures we will communicate via email and social media as soon as a decision is made.

Q.  My child's game was rained out, will it be made up?

A.  We make every attempt to make sure that the players get an opportunity to play as many games in the season as possible.  Depending on when the rain-outs occur, and availability of the fields and teams will ultimately determine if the game can be made up.  Our individual responsible for the scheduling on the Board of Directors will work with the teams that were affected to determine if an agreeable time can be found to make up a game.

Q.  I have a concern about an item related to NOL Little League.  How do I raise my concern?

A.  Please reach out to any member of the Board of Directors, or email us with a question or general concern.  We take all feedback seriously and ensure to address all items raised.

We hope and strive to not to need to reach a level of a formal complaint, however, in the event you wish to make a formal complaint, our league rules do state that all complaints regarding anyone or any matter must be signed and submitted in writing to the Board of Directors who will address the item raised.  The Board of Directors will work with you to make sure that your confidence is kept as part of the complaint.

Q.  Where can I learn more about NOL Little League?

A.  Our website has a section dedicated to information about our league.  You can also find us on Facebook, Instagram, email us at any time, or feel free to reach out to any of our members of the Board of Directors.

Registration FAQ

Q.  Is my child eligible to play in NOL Little League?

A.  Starting with the 2025 season, children at the youngest level of the Little League Baseball and Softball program (League Age 4-7) throughout the United States will have the ability to register for any Little League program they choose, without respect to any geography- or school-related eligibility requirements. Those players who register under this option will also be fully eligible to participate in all aspects of league play, including International Tournament play, for the duration of their Little League careers provided they have continuous and unbroken participation from the time they are League Age seven within the specific league where initially registered and provided all other participation eligibility requirements have been met.

For League Ages 8 and up, Little League International defines the boundary maps for each local Little League.   To be eligible to play for NOL Little League, you must reside within our league boundaries, or your child must physically attend classes at a school within our boundaries.

Q.  We've played at NOL Little League in the past, but have recently moved outside the boundaries.  Is my child still eligible?

A.  For the Tee Ball baseball divisions the teams will be formed in conjunction with the team managers and player agents based on any requests, overall team size, and age to make the teams as even as possible.

For all other divisions, there will be a player evaluation date, followed by a draft in which the managers in the division will draw numbers to determine the draft order and the eligible players in that division will be selected by the manager.

Q.  When will I hear what team my player is on?

A.  Typically the player assignments/drafts are held within days after the completion of the evaluations for a season.  The league will email final rosters after the completion of the draft and you should plan on hearing from the manager of the team that your player will be on within a week of the draft.

A.  Hat and jersey will be provided by the league and the cost is included in your registration fee. Each player is responsible for their own pants, socks and belt(optional). At a minimum, your player will need a batting helmet and fielding glove for his/her catching hand. A bat, sized to your player, and baseball/softball cleats are highly recommended. The league can provide catchers gear (for the divisions that require it) for all teams.  If the player is male and will be playing the position of catcher, they must wear a cup and it is highly recommended for all players.
