Advanced Baseball (AB)

N.O.L. Advanced Baseball Program (“AB”)

Program Summary

N.O.L. offers an Advanced Baseball (“AB”) program for players in its Majors, Minors and Pitching Machine recreational leagues seeking additional, higher level skill development.  The program is managed by a Director of Advanced Baseball, and overseen by a sub-committee of N.O.L.’s Board of Directors that is led by the League President, Patrick Barnett.

Advanced Baseball teams will be selected by each team’s Head Coach through a competitive tryout process. The Head Coach for each division’s team will be selected by the Board sub-committee referenced above.  Player ability, attitude and drive are primary determinants for selection into AB.

Advanced Baseball at N.O.L is NOT All-Stars; however, players may participate in both if selected.  N.O.L. All-Star teams are determined by a separate selection process following the end of each N.O.L. season.

There will be three AB teams of up to 13 players each:

(1)   Majors (players born between May 1, 2006 and August 31, 2008)

(2)   Minors (players born between September 1, 2008 and August 31, 2011)

(3)   Pitching Machine (players born after May 1, 2010).

Please note that players born between May 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011 are eligible to participate in either the Minors or Pitching Machine program.

Majors and Minors tryouts will be held on TBD.  Minors at TBD, Majors at TBD
Pitching Machine tryouts will be held on March TBD at TBD.
Each Tryout session will take place on their appropriate field.

The AB season consists of Sunday afternoon practices at N.O.L. and/or scrimmages against other advanced baseball programs throughout the city.  Practices begin on Sunday, TBD, and the AB season will be co-terminus with the N.O.L. regular season in early May.  There is an additional uniform (jersey only) cost of $20, if selected.

Additional detailed contact information will be provided once the 2019 Director of AB is appointed.  Please contact [email protected] in the interim with any questions related to Advanced Baseball.
